About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced WordPress + Shopify Developer to build, customize, and maintain e-commerce and content websites. You’ll handle both platforms end-to-end, from custom theme/plugin development to store setup, integrations, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and customize WordPress themes/plugins and Shopify themes/apps
- Build and maintain e-commerce stores on Shopify (product setup, checkout, apps, integrations)
- Convert design mockups into responsive, pixel-perfect pages on both platforms
- Write custom Liquid (Shopify) and PHP (WordPress) code as needed
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and marketing tools
- Optimize site speed, SEO structure, and cross-browser/device compatibility
- Manage website/store migrations, backups, and security
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs across both platforms
- Mentor junior developers on the team
- Collaborate with design and marketing teams to implement features
Required Skills
- Strong experience with WordPress (custom themes/plugins) and Shopify (Liquid, theme customization)
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP
- Experience with Shopify apps, APIs, and the Shopify CLI
- Familiarity with MySQL and Shopify’s data structure
- Understanding of responsive design and performance optimization
- Solid Git/version control experience
- Experience with page builders (Elementor, WPBakery) and Shopify page builders (GemPages, PageFly)
Good to Have
- Experience with WooCommerce alongside Shopify
- Knowledge of headless commerce (Shopify Hydrogen, WordPress REST API)
- Familiarity with Tailwind/Bootstrap
- Experience with app development for Shopify App Store
- Basic DevOps/hosting (cPanel, AWS) knowledge
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset
- Ability to mentor and guide junior team members
- Good client/stakeholder communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with WordPress and Shopify development
- Portfolio of live WordPress and Shopify projects required
