Meet Van Hunks, a cool South African company making sparkling wines that add a bit of fun to everyday life. They had a Shopify store, but it was pretty basic. It didn’t show off how great their wines were or tell their brand story. Customers weren’t sticking around on the site or buying much. Something had to change.
The Problem: A Website That Fell Flat
Van Hunks came to us with a common issue – their Shopify store wasn’t doing the job.
Here’s what we saw:
- The design was all over the place
- Products weren’t shown off well
- Nothing grabbed visitors’ attention
- No customer reviews or social proof
- It was hard for people to find what they wanted
Their online store was like a bottle of sparkling wine left open overnight – no fizz!
Our Game Plan: Shopify Makeover
We rolled up our sleeves and got to work on Van Hunks’ Shopify store. Our goal? Make it as exciting as popping open a bottle of their bubbly!
1. Jazzing Up the Home Page
We started with the home page – the first thing customers see. We added:
– A cool slider at the top with catchy text and buttons to click
– A section showing logos of brands they work with
– An “Our Wines” part where they can easily add more products
– A carousel showing happy customer comments
All of this was done using Shopify’s themes and sections, making it easy for Van Hunks to update later.
2. Making the Collection Page Pop
Next, we spruced up the collection page:
– Added a section with text, an image, and a button to click
– Put in a video to catch people’s eye
– Kept the logo carousel for trust
– Arranged products in neat rows of three
– Added sections for reviews and customer photos
We used Shopify’s collection template and custom sections to make this happen.
3. Giving Product Pages Some Love
For individual product pages, we:
– Improved the product details (using Shopify’s meta fields for extra info)
– Added a carousel to show off product images
– Included carousels for logos, reviews, and customer photos
– Created an “Our Collection” section to show off other products
These changes used a mix of Shopify’s built-in features and custom coding.
4. Tying It All Together
To make the whole site feel like Van Hunks, we:
– Used the same fonts everywhere
– Updated the cart icon
– Added an Instagram feed in the footer
– Rearranged the footer menu
We did this by tweaking the Shopify theme’s code and using apps for things like the Instagram feed.
5. Adding Some Tech Magic
We didn’t stop at design. We also:
– Set up an Instagram app to show their latest posts
– Added Klaviyo for email signups and reviews
These apps were integrated with Shopify to work smoothly with the rest of the site.
The Result: A Shopify Store with Sparkle
The new Van Hunks Shopify store is now as exciting as its wines! While we’re still collecting all the numbers, here’s what we’re seeing:
– The site tells Van Hunks’ story much better now
– People are spending more time on the site and looking at more pages ( Reduced Bounce Rate)
– More visitors are interacting with the new features
– More people are buying (thanks to better product info and strategically placed buttons)
– The email list is growing because of the new signup form
In simple terms, the new Shopify store doesn’t just sell wine – it sells the Van Hunks experience. From the moment someone lands on the site to when they click “Buy Now”, everything is designed to wow them and make them want to try Van Hunks’ wines.
This Shopify makeover has given Van Hunks a website that truly shows off how great their wines are. It’s like they’ve popped open a fresh bottle – full of fizz and ready to party!
